Woah Nelly!

Somewhere in between Promiscuous and my boredom, Nelly Furtado became sexy. I always thought she was a cute sort, but for the new video "Say It Right" (and the promotion of said song) she has straightened her usually curly locks, added bangs to the look and glammed up her hot single mama image. This is the first single I have enjoyed from her new album, and I owe it all to the look....okay fine, yes it's a good song too.

Darling Print Ad

My heavens, Kylie Minogue is looking gorgeous in the new print ad for her fragrance, Darling. The fragrance reportedly achieved record sales in it's first day of availability in her native Australia, having the most successful launch of a fragrance at Myers Department Store (Australia's largest retailer).

In other news, Channel 4 in the UK will be broadcasting Kylie's Showgirl Homecoming Tour in early 2007 (so let's cross our fingers for a new concert DVD to add to our collections on this side of the pond). The new layout for the show includes most of the original set list with a few new elements IE. adding the song Burning Up from her Fever album with a slight Madonna tribute thrown into the mix of it (the spoken word section of Vogue), and her newest song White Diamond, which will hopefully be included on the new album.

Finally, her 2007 calendar is the biggest selling calendar from a female artist so far in the UK. This is the fifth year in a row that Kylie has topped the calendar sales charts.

harry potter and the order of the phoenix trailer

Here is the teaser trailer for the new Harry Potter film. It looks as if it will be a good one. It's actually been a great franchise of movies, I haven't heard any complaints from the fans of the books. Well done kids.

Debbie Downer

This probably won't be up for very long (since NBC removes everything good from youtube) but I don't care, this is my favorite Debbie Downer skit. I love when they can't make it through without laughing. Please enjoy despite the presense of Ms. Lohan.

New Deborah Music, Old Deborah Sound

I was kind of expecting a more up to date sound from Deborah Gibson seeing as how she is working with Neal Pogue who has worked with the likes of Pink and Outkast. but her new song "Famous" sounds like a scrap from her Body, Mind, Soul album from 1993. I hope this isn't a taste of things to come, if so I will be disappointed. www.deborah-gibson.com/Famous.mp3 for those who care to give it a listen. You never know somebody might like it, it's not horrible, just not what I was expecting. Maybe it will grow on me.

The Holidays Are Officially Upon Us

As some of my friends know, the Christmas season doesn't start for me until after I have watched the Santa Claus Parade on television. Up until that point I am unable to listen to Christmas music, think about Christmas shopping, or even fathom that the holiday is even approaching. Well, today is the day that the holiday season begins. Now, I know that watching it on TV with the cheesy jokes from the meteorologist and the news broadcaster from Global News, can be sort of annoying for some (I even find myself saying shut up to the TV every once in awhile), but it sets up my mood for the entire season (ie. brings back a little of that childhood wonderment and fun), and so it has become a tradition of mine to watch the entire parade and then start listening to some of my Christmas Cd's.

Always first on my list is Star Bright by Vanessa Williams, I just find that to be one of the finest albums in my collection, and this year I have Bette Midler's Christmas album to look forward to. Truth be told, I will be taping the Parade this year and watching it later tonight due to a busy rehearsal schedule for my musical theatre class and my play I am preparing for, but even if I have to stay up until midnight I will be watching today. Tradition is a tricky thing, isn't it?

Nerina Pallot - Everybody's Gone To War

I love the concept for this video, war in the supermarket. She's gorgeous, but it's too bad she looks like she has wonky eye in the beginning. By the way, I just learned her last name is pronounced Pal-O (no T)who knew.

Sex Is On!

I was going to wait and add this story when I was sure that the news was positively true, but it's taking awhile to be confirmed and I'm too excited to not write about it.

It has been reported that the four glamorous gals of Sex And The City are back in talks to make the much talked about film version of the HBO hit series. The film, which will show the next chapter in the lives of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte, was first scrapped after complaints from actress Kim Cattrall about pay raises and wanting full script approval before proceeding (which was partly denied). But now, all of the girls camps have been in talks to make the film a reality.

Given that this was first reported a couple of weeks ago and it still hasn't been confirmed nor denied is a good sign to me. If it wasn't true, surely someone would have sussed it out by now. Keep your fingers crossed kids.

Update: I just read that Kristin Davis is excited by the idea of the movie, and hopes that the other girls (mainly Kim and Sarah Jessica) can sort their differences and allow the project to happen. Yeah! One down, three to go.

Emma Bunton - Downtown (Full Video)

OMG! This may be the gayest, cheapest, and campiest video I have seen in quite awhile. Naturally I love it. I'm not at all impressed with Emma's covering skills on this song, but the pure camp value of the video makes up for it. It is a song she did for a childrens charity for the BBC, so we really can't ask for anything more than this. Emma's new album entitled "Life In Mono" will be released on December 4th in the UK.

Not Ready To Make Nice...Thank God

If you love Country Music, Sassy girls from Texas, or anyone who hates (and will stand up to) President Bush and his supporters (particularly the ultra conservative types), then please go see the Dixie Chicks Documentary "Shut Up And Sing".

Natalie, Emily, and Martie take us withing the walls of their sisterhood for the three years that proceeded them in the wake of Natalie's now infamous statement to a London concert audience. Through the backlashes, death threats, boycotts, and public outcry for the three liberal chicks to keep their opinions to themselves, the girls take charge, reshaping and rebuilding their career without a hint of remorse, and I say Good For Them.

Personally, when I saw all the footage of what their so-called "fans" were saying about them after the comment, I really was gobsmacked. I could not believe that people living in a country as free and as frivolous as America, could be so angry at a performer for saying something as tame as "We're ashamed the President is from Texas". From being branded the Dixie Sluts to mothers trying to coax their 4 year old kids into saying "Screw the Dixie Chicks", to my favorite quote in the entire film " You can have freedom of speech all you want, but you don't say it on foreign soil, and you don't say it in a public gathering of that size." it really put into perspective how hypocritical and stupid people really are. I'm ashamed that George W. Bush is even from the same planet as me. I hope I don't get death threats now.

Aside from the controversy, the chicks also invite us into their homes, the recording studio, backstage, and even into the hospital room both before and after Emily gives birth to her twins, showing off their incredible (undeniable) talent, their amazingly sharp sense of humour, and their true devotion to each other. Natalie is by far the quickest on her feet when it comes to responses to controversy's and stratagizing new moves to keeping the group on top of the game.

When Toby Keith starts picking on the girls, referring to them in a song, and showing pictures of Natalie and Saddam Hussein photo shopped together, she decides to adorn a t-shirt with rhinestones spelling "F. U. T. K", which she covers up as standing for "Friends United Together for Kindness".

Enough rambling about how great this movie is, if you're not already purchasing tickets to go see it, I'm wasting my breath.

5 out of 5 stars.

You Smell Lovely, Darling!

Kylie Minogue has really been making up for lost time the past few months. Releasing her first children's book, working on material for a new album, rehearsing for her Showgirl Homecoming Tour, and now she has ventured (like so many celebrities before her) into the fragrance industry. She very recently released her first fragrance called "Darling" or "Darl" as it might be called in her native Australia (she admits the Aussies won't be able to resist shortening the word). When asked to comment on the name Kylie stated,

"It's such a warm word. I use it with my friends, my mother uses it with me, and it's a little bit showbiz."

That it is. She has confessed to receiving help from her longtime boyfriend Olivier Martinez in helping to design the perfume. If it makes a man like that happy, I'll buy a gallon of it.

unravel

A rare video for Bjork's song "Unravel" from the Homogenic album. I wasn't even aware that she had released this as a single, the video is not included on her video compilation DVD. A happy surprise for me as this song is definately one of my favorite Bjork ballads, and the video is just as breathtaking and simplistic. "My heart comes undone"...Indeed.

The Sweet Escape: Album Cover

I'm loving the album cover for Gwen Stefani's new album The Sweet Escape. It looks very Jem and the Holograms (meaning girly and cartoony). The sad thing is, I hate, Hate, HATE the first single "Wind It Up". I'm really getting sick of these stupid white women rap attempts, it was annoying enough on Hollaback Girl from her last album, she even inspired the once Taylor Dayne voiced Stacey Ferguson (Fergie), to make a living out of singing like this. It just sounds like Mickey Mouse Club acting placed over music. Plus, the fucking sample of the Sound Of Music song "Lonely Goatherd", is as stupid an idea as putting a knife in a toaster.

Sidenote: Fergie Ferg. Stop acting like a raunchy thug bitch, you were on Kids Inc. and you were in a cheesy 90's girl group for God sake. (Nothing against Wild Orchid, I did buy two of their albums lol).

Gwen's album comes out December 5th. Just in time for Christmas, I'm sure that wasn't planned ;)

Beautiful Awkward Pictures

After being let down when I heard that Toni Collette was not chosen for the Sweeney Todd movie to play Mrs. Lovett, I was gorgeously pleased when about a week later my brother handed me a downloaded copy of Toni's debut album entitled "Beautiful Awkward Pictures".

The eleven track album released under the name Toni Collette & The Finish (her band, including husband David Galafassi), was completely written by the Aussie actress, and is a beautiful serving of downplayed evocative folk music. Standout tracks include the optimistic opener This Moment Is Golden, country tinged Johnny's Lips, and the romantic piano ballad first single Beautiful Awkward Pictures.
It's not a musical, but I can watch Connie & Carla if I need that kind of fix. Beautiful album. Give it a listen. 4 out of 5 stars.

Spears Split

Evidently, Britney Spears is not as retarded as we made her out to be, the showgirl who recently showed off her newly svelte figure and new "Madonna Jump video-esque" hairstyle on David Letterman, has finally filed for divorce from Boozey The Clown. She has asked for custody of their two children Sean and Jayden, and will most likely be granted it considering Kevin's musical attempts were beaten by Barry Manilow on the charts. The fucking Jingle Cats could beat him in the charts for God sake. Didn't you learn anything from Eminem? The only way to be successful as a white rapper from Kentucky is to make fun of celebrities, or sing about raping your mother.

Even though this marriage didn't last nearly as long as Whitney & Bobby, it may as well have been 20 years given how utterly annoying they were (and there were no drugs involved, as far as we know, which is the only reason Whitney and Bobby lasted as long as they did, they were too stoned to know that they were still married). Get back to stripping on stage and masturbating with Madonna, Brit. I miss those days.
Update: Kevin Federline's album debuted at # 151 on the Billboard Charts. Talk about having a bad week.

Yah, This Was A Surprise!

I've been quite busy lately, not alot of time to add to my site, but I do have a few stories to cover, and hopefully I will be all caught up before anything else stupid or exciting happens in this twisted little world of ours. The first order of business is this silly Neil Patrick Harris story. Apparently some Canadian website made references to Doogie being a homo, and then he denied it, then confirmed it. Ummmm, didn't he come out in 1996 or am I just on glue? I had a deja vu moment when I read this story.
I have a problem with these websites doing countless stories about a person's sexuality until it forces them to break their "silence", it makes me feel a little bit sorry for them, and to be honest a little uncomfortable. It's like constantly being called a fag as you walk through the halls of your highschool. If a person doesn't want to be vocal about their sexuality, then leave them be.

Good for you anyways Neil. You finally got yourself back on tv.

PS. I'm well aware of the ironies of posting this on a blog for everybody in the world to read, so don't even bother pointing that out.

Studio 1

The new All Saints album, Studio 1 comes out November 16th. The official tracklisting has been listed on Amazon.com as follows.

1) Rock Steady

2) Chick Fit

3) On And On

4) Scar

5) Not Eazy

6) Hell No

7) One Me And U

8) Headlock

9) Too Nasty

10) In It To Win It

11) Flashback

12) Fundamental

The girls were recently on the Brit chatshow Saturday Night Takeaway performing the hot lead single Rock Steady, and they looked like they are having a great time together again. The girls friendship fizzled in 2001 during promotion of their sophomore album Saints & Sinners. They attribute their falling out to a barage of small problems that built up, mixed with lack of communication and resolution. The Appleton sisters even spoke poorly of Shaznay and Melanie in their book "Together". In a recent interview they've stated "We've all spent our time as the naughty children on the stair....and we've thought about what we've done", "We've grown, and we realize that our friendship is more important than the business aspect of things".

If the first single is any indication of things to come, it should be a fantastic comeback project.
