Gasoline by Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow has a new album coming out in February called "Detours" and she recently performed this track on Ellen's Really Big Show tv special. It's pretty hot. She sounds like she's gone back to her old rocker girl sound. The way she approaches the verses reminds of All I Wanna Do. Check it out.

Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis

The sublime Leona Lewis is the winner of the third season of UK talent search "X-Factor" (think American Idol, Simon Cowell produces X-Factor as well).

Her debut album "Spirit" has entered the UK album charts at #1, beating out the Spice Girls Greatest Hits album, and it has also received the honor of becoming the biggest selling debut album in UK history.

Idina Menzel - I Stand Album Promo

It has been a while since I posted last, but I have been busy getting my other blog up to par.

This exciting news is reason enough to get on with things again. Idina Menzel's new studio album "I Stand" will be released in January 2008, and this video takes you through a quick glipse of Idina's career up until this point.

The album was produced and co-written by Glen Ballard, the genius who helped to bring us Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill, the first single from the album "Brave" is currently available to buy on i-tunes, and Idina is currently getting Oscar buzz for the song "A Hero Comes Home" which she performed for the end credits of the new Angelina Jolie film Beowulf.

New Blog

For those of you who actually read this site and also enjoy the Spice Girls, I decided today to start a new Blog which focuses only on news about the Girls. Why you ask? Simply because there are far too many news stories, video's, tv appearances, tour announcements and other such media mish mash about them coming out as they take over the world once again that I feel I want to write about, and this site would just become one great big Spice blog anyway. So I decided, why not just keep them all in one place? Plus I figure, once the tour has ended I can add posts about what they are up to in their solo careers.

So if you are interested in getting the latest news on Geri, Emma, Melanie B, Victoria, and Melanie C, simply visit http://www.fivebecomeone.blogspot.com/ . I already have 22 or so posts posted, including the video for their Brand New single "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)".

Enjoy!

I Got Tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WooooHooo! I actually got tickets to the Spice Girls 2 nights in Toronto on their Return Of The Spice Girls tour. This is going to be such a treat. I think I may die.

While I'm at it though I guess I should write about the latest info. The Greatest Hits package will be released in Canada on November 13th. You can either buy the CD (packaged all alone), the CD/DVD Package deal which includes a DVD with all of their music videos for your nostalgic enjoyment, or the special Gift Box package which includes the greatest hits CD, the video's DVD, a karaoke CD, a remixes CD, a Friendship Bracelet, and 5 picture postcards of the girls. Which one do you think I'll be buying?

The Track listing of the CD is as follows...

1) Wannabe
2) Say You'll Be There
3) 2 Become 1
4) Mama
5) Who Do You Think You Are?
6) Move Over
7) Spice Up Your Life
8) Too Much
9) Stop
10) Viva Forever
11) Let Love Lead The Way
12) Holler
13) Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)
14) Voodoo
15) Goodbye

The girls recently shot the video for the upcoming single Headlines and the song will be premiering on UK radio tomorrow. The cover of the album features a glittering Spice logo created in gems by jeweller David Morris. Each colored jewel is intended to represent one of the five girls.

The "S" is set in Amber to represent Victoria, the Ruby Pink "P" represents Emma, the Diamond "I" represents Melanie C., the Sapphire "C" represents Geri, and the emerald "E" is for Mel B.

The Documentary that the girls are working on is reportedly going to be released sometime in December just after the tour starts.

Kylie Minogue - "2 Hearts" Music Video

It has been just over a week since my last post, I was enjoying an absolutely incredible week in New York City. Now, I'm back and before I get to posting about my trip, I have this very fun post to add first. It's not too much longer until we all see the arrival of Kylie's new album "X". The 13 track album will be released November 26th. For now however, we have the music video for Kylie's first single from the album "2 Hearts". I must say she looks amazing. Hope you all enjoy it.

Geri Halliwell On GMTV

A few of the Spice Girl dates for the reunion tour have already gone on sale and sold out in seconds, but this boy is still waiting for the Toronto date to be released and go on sale. In the meantime, I have news via this video of Geri on British chat show GMTV that the Girls have recorded a new single for their greatest hits collection entitled "Headlines". The Greatest Hits album will be released November 12th, with the single being released November 19th. Watch the video above to hear it from the horses mouth.

Sweeney Todd Trailer

Wow, here is the trailer for Tim Burton's film version of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and I have to say that it looks amazing. I was a bit worried but now I really am counting down the days to see it. They indeed kept the music within.

"How's about a shave?"

It opens Christmas Day.

New Alanis Album Title

Our beloved Canadian chick rocker Alanis Morissette has recently released the title of her new album. The album (which is still lacking a release date) will be called Flavors Of Entanglement.

What do we think?

Alanis previewed a new song/video at the Elevate Films Festival called "Underneath". I'm not sure if this track will be featured on the new album or not, but I would assume that it's a safe bet to say that it will. She also performed a new track called "Not As We" with co-writer Guy Sigsworth during a one off performance at the Hotel Cafe in LA earlier this year. Official word is that 25 songs were written in the process of making the album and 13 or so have been chosen for the final cut.

Idina Menzel - Wake Up With Whoopi Part 2 of 2

In this clip Idina premiere's the song "I Stand" and giggles about her microphone falling apart. Another amazing song, I can't wait to hear the album. The clip kinda goes on for a bit after they thank her for stopping by so you can just stop it after that. Idina is also appearing in the new Disney film Enchanted with Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon opening in theatres November 21st.

Idina Menzel - Wake Up With Whoopi Part 1 of 2

I was going back and forth in my head as to whether I should add the full video's for these posts or just the song elements, but I've decided to go with the full enchilada. This is for you Idina Menzel/Broadway fans. Idina Menzel is planning on releasing her (as yet untitled) third solo album come January 2008, and she recently stopped by Whoopi Goldberg's morning radio show "Wake Up With Whoopi" for and interview and to premiere two new songs written for the album. In this clip she discusses working with Glen Ballard on the album and performs the song "Brave". It's lovely, check it out.

Broken Linc -- Fragment 2: Dissatisfaction

This is the second fragment from Lincoln's Broken Linc series. Good times.

Broken Linc - Fragment 1: New Car

My friend Lincoln Trudeau, actor, comedian, all-around-good-guy, has recently begun filming some of his very funny observations on life, in little snippets called Broken Linc. As he places them up on youtube I've decided to place them on my blog, just because I find him amusing and I want to share. So, here's his first "fragment". Watch and enjoy.

Broken Down Britney

The whole Internet is a-buzz with the latest Britney fiasco, and this site is no exception. Now, I don't like to kick a girl when she's so far down on the stripper pole, but what the hell is going on with her? She can't seem to do anything right nowadays, even K-Feds "career" is looking better than hers. I thought that after all the drinking, ridiculous marriages, break downs, shaving her head, chasing after paparazzi with umbrella's and basically neglecting her kids, that she would at least be able to perform one song properly in order to get her career (what's left of it) back on track, but she couldn't even manage that.

She seemed to forget how to lipsynch (who the fuck forgets how to lipsynch?), she clearly couldn't remember her choreography and the little that she did seem to remember was confused and lackadaisical. I'm so disappointed.

On the bright side, I do really enjoy the song (and a few others that I have heard from the album that have leaked), she didn't look too bad, aside from the poochy stomach (which I really didn't mind because I think it's better to have a bit more than to be lookin' emaciated), and at least she didn't freeze and run off the stage altogether. She tried to salvage but it was already dead.

We know you can't sing Britney but you were once quite the showgirl. I hope to God you get another shot at performing that song properly. Shame.

Spring Awakening @ The Tony Awards

I've just planned my trip to New York, and one of the shows I am most excited about seeing is Spring Awakening. The music for this show is completely done by Duncan Sheik and it has recently won the Award for Best Musical at this years Tony Awards. The show takes place in Germany in 1891, and centre's around a group of teenagers who are each discovering who they are in the midst of their sexual awakening as well as within their world where the grown-ups hold all the cards. This is the Medley performance that the young cast performed at the Tony Awards. Watch and Love. I can't wait to see it live, I've already worn the soundtrack down to the nubbin'.

Cree Summer- Savior Self

It has been quite a long time sing Cree Summer has released any new music, but here is a new song and video from Cree that she has recently made for the Elevate Film Fest. I really hope this leads to the arrival of a new album. Give it a listen/watch, it's amazing.

Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining

The second single from Rilo Kiley's newest album "Under The Blacklight" is the albums opener Silver Lining. The video has a cute little runaway bride premise, and I absolutely love Jenny's Tuxedo style mini-dress when she's playing the piano. Buy the album, it's great.

Tori Amos - Jackie's Strength

In honor of Tori Amos' birthday (which was yesterday), I've decided to post her video for Jackie's Strength. This is one of my favorite songs and I just think that the video is gorgeous. Hope you love it too, buy the album From The Choirgirl Hotel if you don't have it already to hear this song and many other amazing works by Tori. Happy Birthday Scarlet.

Paradise (Not for Me)- Madonna

In honor of it being Madonna's birthday today, I've decided to add the video of one of my favorite moments from The Confessions Tour. This version of Paradise (Not For Me) is to die for. Happy 49th birthday to The Queen of Pop. Let's hope she doesn't fall off another horse.

Lisa Marie Duets With Dad

Lisa Marie Presley can now count herself among the few artists who have brought old songs back to life by incorporating themselves into the mix with the original artist. As Natalie Cole once did with her dearly departed father, Lisa Marie has recorded herself into her fathers track "In The Ghetto" making a technological duet which will be released in music video form this Friday, just in time for the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death.

The video, which will be featured on AOL website Spinner.com, will feature many images of Elvis and will be posted alongside an interview with Lisa Marie.

Of doing the duet, Lisa Marie stated,

"We had two hours to lay down my vocals, so the next morning, I heard the rough... and.... I've never cried when I've done anything.... ever.... but I just lost it when I heard it."

Presley is also eager to start working on the follow up album to 2005's "Now What?", rumored to be titled "Black On Blue".

The Party - Coulda Shoulda Woulda (How Bouncy)

Wow, Flashback. For those of you who don't remember The Party, they were a pop group formed by the Disney Channel in the early 90's consisting of five members from The New Mickey Mouse Club. Before there was Britney, Justin and Christina, there were DeeDee, Albert, Damon, Tiffini, and Chase. The group released 4 albums in their time, having only know any degree of success with the first two. This is my favorite song of their's in which DeeDee is on lead vocals. DeeDee Magno went on to star as Kim in Miss Saigon on Broadway for more than six years, is currently playing Nessarose in the traveling production of Wicked with her husband Cliffton Hall in the role of Fiyero and is reportedly working on her first solo album. Damon (the one with the black curly asymetrical hair)went on to work in real estate, and is currently working on a website called Street Network TV, a Myspace inspired site for artists to display their talents. Albert Fields released a solo album under the name Jeune and continues to record and perform on the indie circuit. Chase Hampton (the red head) continues to perform with a band called Buzzfly, and Tiffini Hale (the girl with the hat, she was known for her hats) has completely disappeared off the face of the earth. Nostalgia = Good Times.

A New Baby Spice

Emma Bunton and her longtime boyfriend Jade Jones welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world this morning at London's Portland Hospital. The happy couple have named their 7lbs. 15 oz. child Beau (which as we all know is french for beautiful).

Jade, who announced the news to reporters waiting outside the hospital, said "He is absolutely brilliant, and both baby and Emma are doing fine. In fact Emma is tucking into some flapjacks and Coca-Cola as we speak." Must be a nice hospital! He also added " We are both absolutely delighted and can't wait to take Beau home."

This is the couples first child and adds the total number of Spice kids up to 7.

Congratulations to the happy couple.

Covet By Sarah Jessica Parker

God, Sarah Jessica Parker is becoming quite the business woman these days. She is about to start work on the Sex and the City Movie, she has her clothing line "Bitten", and now she has just added a new fragrance to her fragrance line called "Covet". Covet, which is the follow up to her extremely well received Perfume "Lovely", is a blend of Sicilian lime, chocolate, michelia yunnanensis and bois de cashmere. I have no idea what that means but I'm sure it smells great, the last one did. Above is the commercial ad for the fragrance. Pretty cute.

We're SPICE CITY

YYYYAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Spice Girls recently held a competition called Spice City, where their fans could vote for their city to be added to the Reunion Tour. It's just been reported from their official website that TORONTO WON THE CONTEST. Way to go Spice fans. The show has not been given an official date yet but keep checking back at http://www.thespicegirls.com/ and register for tickets as well. This is the second Canadian date to be added, Vancouver was recently added a few days ago and is currently the first stop on the tour. There are currently 15 dates on the tour with rumours of more to be added.

Now all I have to do is hope that I can get a ticket.

Paying Rent Again

As most of you know, I have been madly in love with the musical Rent ever since I was introduced to it by my vocal teacher in 12th grade. I was lucky enough to see the show for the first time on Broadway last year while on holiday in New York. So I am very happy to report that Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal who originated the roles of Mark Cohen and Roger Davies in the Tony Award/Pulitzer Prize winning musical 10 years ago, are both reprising their respective roles for a six week run on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre. The two, who were last seen playing these roles in the film version in 2005, made a choice that they would only come back for this special engagement if the other chose to.

If you would like to see a video interview of the two talking about their return, as well as views from the other current members of the musical (including former American Idol contestant Tamyra Gray who currently stars as Mimi), then just click here.

Anthony and Adam will both pay rent until September 9th.

This Is A Bit Horrifying

I have a few Theatre stories to write about next. The first of which is this horrible news that Kelly Osbourne will be making her West-End debut in the musical Chicago.

Now I was thinking that by the looks of the promotional shot for Kelly's welcome that she would be playing Velma Kelly. She is newly svelte and has the poker straight black bob hair style which is sometimes synonymous with the role. However the article that I read states that she will in fact be taking on the role of Mama Morton, the matron of the prison where Velma and Roxie are held.

I have big issues with this whole story because 1) The Brits seem to have a knack for asking untalented young starlet's to play in this musical (first Ashlee Simpson, now this). Secondly, the role of Mama Morton is generally played by busty African American women in their 40's. Thirdly the role calls for someone with a big, booming Broadway style singing voice. Kelly can barely handle singing Papa Don't Preach without the use of synthesizers on her voice.

Why God, Why?!? Kelly starts her seven week run on September 10th at the Cambridge Theatre.

Emmy Rossum - Inside Out

Golden Globe nominated actress Emmy Rossum who is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Christine Daae in the film adaptation of The Phantom of The Opera, is continuing her foray into music, with the impending release of her first album entitled Inside Out. Although she was approached by many record labels to record a classical music album after displaying her operatic abilities in the film, the new Geffen Records album is more mainstream sounding than most had anticipated.

"It's pop music, but not Britney Spears bubblegum pop." Emmy has said. "I want it to have a David Gray or Annie Lennox feel."

An EP which contains a couple of songs from the album, and a bonus 15 minute documentary video are now available to download off i-tunes. The full length album will be released in stores in October, but until then clips of the album can be heard on Emmy's new Myspace site. It sounds pretty good to me, a bit like Imogen Heap meets Enya meets Kate Bush. I think I will consider investing in it. Listen/Judge for yourself though.

Dead Like Movie

For those of you who were fans of the now cult hit television show "Dead Like Me", you better get ready because the reapers are coming back in the form of a straight to DVD movie.

For those who weren't viewers of the show, Dead Like Me revolved around 18 year old Georgia (George) Lass (played by Ellen Muth) who was snuffed out by a flaming toilet seat that fell from the Mir Space station, blowing her to smithereens. Her soul was then reborn to join the ranks of the undead as a Grim Reaper. The Reapers, who are led by the very Zen-like Rube (played brilliantly by Mandy Patinkin) must pop the souls out of the living before they die, so the victims bodies don't feel anything when they meet their end, and then escort them to their afterlife.
Clockwise from top: Jasmine Guy (Roxy), Laura Harris (Daisy) Mandy Patinkin (Rube), Ellen Muth (George), and Callum Blue (Mason).

The show was cancelled after two seasons, but many online petitions have been signed by die hard fans of the show to bring it back to television. At one time it was a consideration, however Mandy Patinkin was already signed on to another television series by the time serious talks came around so the idea was scrapped. Now, the show will be continuing in a 2 hour straight to DVD movie version.

There are a few exceptions however. Most of the original cast will be reprising their roles, with the (rumoured) exceptions of Patinkin, and Laura Harris who played Daisy. According to what I've read, the Reapers will be lead by a new head Reaper named Calvin Kane, and the role of Daisy Adair will be filled by a new actress.

Sex Ensues

Ever since the hit HBO series Sex And The City went off the air in 2004, it's followers have been anticipating the much discussed film continuation of the lives of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. The movie which almost didn't happen due to reports that Kim Cattrall wanted final script approval and a pay raise for her portrayal of sex obsessed Samantha Jones, is now officially in pre-production with all four of the ladies (from left: Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis) on board. Here's hoping that all of their respective male counterparts will also take part. It would be slightly disappointing if they don't.

The film should be released through New Line Cinema some time next year. In the mean time I have my collection of DVDs to tide me over.

Tiffany - Open My Eyes Video

Get music video codes at Bolt.

Tiffany - Just Me (Live)

I find it really sad that people can't seem to give Tiffany's newer music a chance because she used to sing in shopping malls 20 years ago, and most of the songs she did were cover songs. Fine, singing a bunch of covers is not the way to establish yourself as an artist these days, but still, she was 16 at the time people....let it go. Tiffany (now 35) is still writing music to this day (really good quality music) and garnering some of the best reviews of her career, but still she is not being played on the radio or achieving the level of success that many others with her talent are. Her latest album "Just Me" is a mix of rocky, country tinged pop music that is reminiscent of artists like Sheryl Crow, Michelle Branch, and Melissa Etheridge. I was going to add the video for the first single "Feels Like Love" (which I may still do), but I felt I should add this clip of her performing the title track live at an autograph signing, just so you skeptics who doubt if she can sing live can be relieved of any doubts. Watch and Enjoy.

First Look: Alvin And The Chipmunks Movie Poster

This ones for the kids. The latest childhood cartoon to be turned into a live action movie with CG characters is Alvin & The Chipmunks. A teaser trailer for this film was also shown for the hoards of people who caught The Simpsons Movie this weekend, and I'm not completely sure that it's going to be a good one for anybody to see. The movie poster seems to indicate that they are making Alvin, Simon, and Theodore find their street cred, while being watched over by their owner/father/manager (whatever relationship he had with these three) David Seville, played by My Name Is Earl star Jason Lee. The clip that was shown made it look like a piece of crap with the same formula that Scooby Doo and Garfield shared when brought to the big screen. But who knows, stranger things have happened and it may just bring new life to the genre. I can say this though, the CG trio do look adorable, and are no longer the size of 5 year old boys like the former cartoon series pictured them (what kind of mutant chipmunks were they? It was trippy enough that they could sing and speak).

What will they bring to the big screen next? The Jetsons or Jem and The Holograms?

Alvin and the Chipmunks will be released December 17th.

Mr Bean's Holiday Trailer

I was quite excited while sitting in the movie theatre on Friday waiting for The Simpsons Movie to start, as a trailer for the new Mr Bean movie caming on the screen. I had no idea that this film was even in the works. I remember nearly dying of laughter when I saw the first movie with my cousin Lynn in Scotland, and so I hope this one is just as great. You be the judge though. Rowan Atkinson is a comic genius in my mind, and certainly one of the best at physical comedy. IMDB is reporting that this movie comes out on August 24th. "Gracias"

First Look: Sweeney Todd Movie Poster

Here is the first movie poster for the film version of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp. I can't wait for this film. The poster indicates that it will be in theatres at Christmas, so I only have 5 more months to wait. I figured the film would come out around either Halloween or Christmas. It's a signature move for the dark and twisted nature of a Burton movie.

On top of Helena Bonham-Carter playing Mrs Lovett and Sacha Baron Cohen playing Signor Pirelli (as I previously reported), Alan Rickman, whom I love, will be playing the role of Judge Turpin, the man whom Sweeney swears his ultimate revenge. I can't wait to hear what the music will be like, will they change it much from the stage show? Perhaps make it darker?

I have high hopes and I better not be let down. What do you think of the poster?

Natalie Imbruglia: Glorious Music Video

As promised, I found the full length music video for Natalie Imbruglia's new single Glorious and it's here for your viewing pleasure. Just a fun little summer romp through the desert with friends and sparklers abound. Enjoy. God she looks good with short hair. Don't you think?

The Simpsons Movie Trailer

Is everyone ready for The Simpsons Movie coming out on Friday? I know I certainly am. But just in case some of you still need a bit of coaxing, here is the Trailer.

Spider Pig, lol Good times!

Inmates Do Thriller

OMG, who knew that jail was this much fun? I think I need to go kill someone in the Phillippines so I can join in on the good times. The guy dressed up like the girl is a bit disturbing however. Thanks to Dawn for informing me about this. Hilarious.

Dirty Harry

Okay, am I the only person who finds this photograph of Daniel Radcliffe just a little ......scheezy? I don't think I am. This is from the latest issue of Details Magazine of which Daniel also appears on the cover (looking quite a bit better than this). I just think they are trying too hard to get him out of the Harry Potter image. The article slightly focuses on his work on the latest Harry Potter film, as well as his role in the Peter Shaffer play Equus where Daniel (now 18) appeared nude on stage. At the same time though, the interviewer seems more interested in asking him about losing his virginity and the size of his "wand" as they refer to it (which is average size according to the article), than what he is working on. I agree that actors (especially young actors) should do all that they can to keep themselves from being typecast as one specific type of character, and I think that Daniel has been making good choices in his career of late, but at the same time, do you really want to be photographed looking like you're two blocks away from your leather daddy orgy club meeting? It's good to show you're growing up, but this is a little much

Lose the vest and the porn-stache and dress like a normal teenager okay? It's not as sexy as they're telling you it will look.

Winona Strikes A Pose

Winona Ryder has always been one of my favorite actresses. She is so versatile in her film choices that she just seems to be able to portray any kind of character with a great sense of ease. From dark comedies like Heathers and Beetlejuice to period pieces like The Crucible and The Age Of Innocence she has cemented herself as one of the most diverse leading women of our generation.

Winona as Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice

After being pretty much absent from the film industry since the public humiliation of being caught shoplifting at Saks Fifth Avenue Beverly Hills in 2002, Winona (now 35) reappears in the spotlight looking lovely on the August cover of Vogue Magazine. In the article she discusses her life around the time of the shoplifting scandal, her conscious decision to put her film career on the back burner, and her three new film projects she has coming out very soon.

Winona as Mina Harker in Bram Stokers Dracula

The three small comedic films are "The Ten" which centers around ten stories, each inspired by one of the Ten Commandments (co-starring Jessica Alba, Paul Rudd, Famke Janssen and Adam Brody, in limited release starting August 3rd), "Sex & Death 101" (written by Daniel Waters who also wrote the screenplay for "Heathers" and co-starring Simon Baker, Dash Mihok and Mindy Cohn who you may remember as Natalie Green on The Facts Of Life), and "The Last Word" (co-starring Ray Romano and Wes Bentley). Hopefully one, if not all, of these pictures will re-establish her as a box-office draw.

Winona (with co-star Daniel Day-Lewis) as Abigail Williams in The Crucible

After working with Daniel Waters again, Winona confirmed that they are soon going to be working on the impending sequel to "Heathers". In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Winona was quoted as saying,

"I don't know how much of the movie is official; it's a ways away. But it takes place in Washington and Christian Slater agreed to come back and make an Obi-Wan-type appearance. It's very funny."

Winona as Donna in A Scanner Darkly

The August issue of Vogue is available on newsstands now.

New Music: Minnie Driver - Seastories

I know the very thought of actors trying to make it as singers is completely gag worthy and ultimately horrible at times, but every so often you get one that really makes an effort and puts together something beautiful. Minnie Driver is definitely one of those few in my eyes.

She has just released her second album, "Seasongs", which is a fantastic collection of acoustic folk rock songs. The album follows the fairly successful "Everything I've Got In My Pocket" which was released in 2004. Minnie's vocals are very subtle but seductive and almost bluesy at the same time (think Jenny Lewis or Martha Wainwright). The 12 track album was completely penned by Driver and features a few friends, including Liz Phair who provides backing vocals to the track Sorry Baby, and Ryan Adams who is featured on the song "Beloved".

The complete track listing is as follows...

1) Stars And Satellites
2) Sorry Baby
3) Beloved
4) Cold Dark River
5) Mockingbird
6) How To Be Good
7) King Without A Queen
8) Mary
9) Lakewater Hair
10) London Skies
11) Coming Back To Life
12) Love Is Love

Minnie As Dahlia Malloy in "The Riches"

Minnie is currently doing a summer tour in support of the album, hopefully she will come back to Toronto as I missed her when she was in town for the first album, and her new TV series "The Riches" for the FX channel has just earned her an Emmy Nomination for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series.

Glorious - Natalie Imbruglia

Ten years after the release of her smash hit Torn, Natalie Imbruglia is releasing her first hits collection entitled Glorious: The Singles 1997 - 2007. The album includes 9 of Natalie's biggest hits from her first three albums, and 5 new songs to tide her fans over until the release of her highly anticipated 4th album some time in early 2008. The Singles Collection will be released September 10th with the first single "Glorious" being released on August 27th. Here she is performing "Glorious" on the National Lottery show in the UK. It's extremely catchy, and I'm just loving the new short hair. Very Nice. Once the official video is available I will add it. I have seen a clip, and she looks gorgeous.

Posh & Becks Get Hot In The U.S.

David and Victoria Beckham are heating things up on the cover of the August issue of (one of my favorite magazines) W magazine on newsstands July 20th. The couple is making their move from London to L.A., where David will be playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy Soccer Team and Victoria will probably be working on her fashion line and preparing for the Spice Girls Reunion tour.

Victoria is also being featured in an hour long special for NBC called Victoria Beckham: Coming To America which will be airing next Monday July 16th. On top of that she is scheduled to appear on Jay Leno this Friday. Set your vcr's and tivo's kids.

The photo layout for W was shot by famed photographer Steven Klein and, as I've read, features the couple in various states of undress. Sounds Hot.

Rilo Kiley - The Moneymaker

Okay, this is HOT. Indie Rock Band Rilo Kiley are gearing up to release their 4th album entitled Under The Blacklight on August 21. This is the first album since the band's 2004 release More Adventurous. After that the band members decided to part ways to work on other projects for awhile. Lead vocalist (and former child star) Jenny Lewis released her first solo album Rabbit Fur Coat. The album, a beautiful collection of country tinged acoustic soul music, featured Gospel singing duo The Watson Twins and was hailed by many online and music magazine publications as one of the best indie releases of 2006.

Meanwhile lead guitarist and sometime vocalist Blake Sennett went on to enjoy his own success by forming the band The Elected, with whom he has released two albums so far.

The first single from Under The Blacklight is the funky, infectious (and did I mention Hot?)track, The Moneymaker. The video which officially runs for about 12 minutes features the audition process for the porn stars that will be featured in the actual video (which kinda insinuates that this is not for kids, which is about right). The actual song starts around the nine minute mark, and is shot in the gritty lighting, and old fashioned camera style of 70's era porn.

Who's Your Daddy?

After a long and drawn out battle to prove the paternity of her second child to it's unwilling father, Melanie Brown (aka Scary Spice) finally has the validation that she was looking for all along. Her child Angel Iris is indeed the result of her relationship with actor Eddie Murphy, as proven by a recent paternity test.

During her pregnancy Murphy denied the fact that he was indeed the father of this child, stating "I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test". But Melanie, who insisted all along that it was his, still had her way when the baby was born by giving her both Murphy's last name, and her own.

When asked recently about her feelings for Eddie now, Mel simply stated "The less said about the Beverly Hills Cock the better."

Oooooh Zing! By the way, Melanie is looking damn good these days, sweet Lord!

More Zig-A-Zig AH!

Wanna see the girls talking about the reunion tour? Just watch the video above.

Girl Power Lives Again

Well, everybody can finally stop holding their breath, the Spice Girls are hitting the road for a reunion tour starting on December 7th.

The fab five, Victoria Beckham (Posh), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby), and Melanie Brown (Scary), who haven't performed together since 2001, announced in an official statement today that they will be doing 11 performances in various parts of the world, starting in Los Angeles on December 7th and ending in Argentina on January 24th 2008.

To get us all into the mood for the tour, EMI is slated to release the first Spice Girls Greatest Hits album in November. Might we expect a new song to be added to the hits package. That would make me so happy (Not that I'm not thrilled already, I can barely contain myself as is). And as if that weren't enough the girls have agreed to make their first ever documentary as a fivesome (Geri made a documentary about her life after leaving the Spice Girls halfway through their first world tour, and the other four girls subsequently made a documentary while touring America).

"It's going to be the most honest story that you've ever heard," Geri said. "You get to see the dark side of the Spice Girls, the gritty side, the tears."

To get tickets for the show of your choice, simply go to http://www.thespicegirls.com/ , choose the show you want attend and fill out your information.

Spice Up My Life!

Wow, I really shouldn't do this for a living because I am horrible at keeping up with this page. I have many stories that I want to write about, it's just a matter of finding the time to do it.

Okay so, at the top of the block is the news that the Spice Girls will be making an official announcement about plans for a (fingers crossed kids) future reunion tomorrow. Given that the girls are actually getting together to make an official statement, all signs are pretty much pointing to go, why would they get together to say that they're never going to reunite? They've been doing that for years and that would be really disappointing to the fans. But I don't want to give my hopes up. I'm sure if they do plan to do a small reunion tour of some sort, it won't be until next year, as Emma Bunton is expecting her first child in a couple of months, and Melanie Brown and Geri Halliwell have new children.

As well as that, I'm assuming they will only perform material from their first two albums. That or they will have to find a way to work Geri into the songs from Forever, as she left after the success of the Spice World album.

I'll write about the official announcement tomorrow. I simply can't wait. What do they have planned for us?

Idina Defies Gravity, Again

Broadway and Film actress Idina Menzel, best known for her roles in Rent and Wicked, is preparing to release her third solo album later this year, the working title of which is Defying Gravity (which is the closing number of the first act of Wicked for those of you who don't know). The Tony award winner has even reworked the song into a solo single version which can now be heard and downloaded off of her official website or I-tunes. Give it a listen if you are a fan of the show, it has been re orchestrated (to better fit radio), and she has switched around a few of the lyrics (cutting out the dueted elements with the Glinda character, and replacing them with lyrics from the song The Wizard And I which shares a similar bridge.

In other Idina news, she will soon be seen in the Disney film Enchanted, starring alongside Amy Adams, James Marsden, Susan Sarandon, Patrick Dempsey, and Michaela Conlin. The tentative release date for this film is November 21.

An Angel For Melanie

As I mentioned in the below post, Melanie Brown was not present at the Christening of Geri Halliwell's little girl. That is because the former Scary Spice was busy with her own new bundle of joy. On April 3rd Melanie gave birth to her second daughter, she already has an 8 year old daughter, Phoenix Chi from her previous marriage to former Spice Girl back up dancer Jimmy Gulzar. She has named her new little one Angel Iris Murphy Brown. She weighed in at 5 lbs. 4 oz., and her publicist stated ...

" The baby is completely healthy with a good head of hair."

During her press release Melanie stated her reasons behind the name she chose.

"Angel, as she was my little angel through my pregnancy; Iris, as it's my Grandma's name, Murphy (as in Eddie) because he's the Dad and Brown, because I'm the Mum!"

Mel hooked up with Eddie Murphy last year, he in turn dumped her and denied that this child was his. He still refuses to acknowledge any paternal rights, but Mel stands her ground on the matter.

Congratulations Melanie!

Reunion Spice

Last Sunday, marked one of the first times that as many as four of the Spice Girls have appeared together in public since their split in 2001. The reason for this get together, was to celebrate the Christening of Geri Halliwell's 11 month old daughter Bluebell Madonna Halliwell. On hand for the occasion were Melanie C (in a very lovely dress, and workin' the bangs), Emma Bunton (who is expecting her first child with long time boyfriend Jade Jones this summer), and Victoria Beckham, whom Geri named as Bluebell's Godmother.

Melanie Brown was not present....and I'll get to that later. Bluebell who looked adorable in her white christening gown, and bouquet of Bluebell flowers, looks so much like her (newly svelte) mother.

The girls have repeatedly shot down rumours that they will be doing a reunion performance of any kind. But with the near happening during Live 8 that sadly never came to be, people cannot let go of the dream. Denial is a good thing.

Sexy Santa

American Doll Posse is set to be released on Tuesday. I've already heard the whole album, and I think it's simply fantastic. I can't wait to actually have it in my hot little hand. In the meantime, may I introduce to you the fourth member of the Posse, the silver haired, glam girl, Santa.

Tori describes Santa as follows...

"Santa relates to Aphrodite (Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty) and is the sensualist of the quintet. Through songs like the shimmery pop of "Secret Spell" or the wonderfully wicked "You Can Bring Your Dog" or the delightfully retro "Programmable Soda", Santa is somebody who's a girl's girl. She understands her fellow sisters and she believes that there is enough love and passion out there for everyone. But she won't accept that there is something perverted about being very sensual and she won't drink shame with her sensuality."

To get to know Santa a bit more before she appears on stage (possibly at a venue near you) with Tori during the tour, you can read her official blog. As an added bonus, Tori is now streaming the entire album on her myspace site, so for those of you who can't wait a few more days (and haven't downloaded it already), go take a free listen. Buy the album when it comes out though, support the artists.

Bjork - Wanderlust (Live on SNL)

This is the second of the two songs from Volta that Bjork premiered on Saturday Night Live last night. She has stated that after doing a few serious albums all in a row, all she wanted to do for this album was to have fun and do something that was full bodied and really up. Mission Accomplished I would say.

Bjork - Earth Intruders (Live on SNL)

As quickly as the official video for Earth Intruders made it onto Youtube, it was removed by Warner Music. Let's hope that NBC doesn't catch on as quickly. This song was produced by Bjork and Timbaland. She looks gorgeous, and after two albums of soft beats (2001's celestus inspired Vespertine and 2004's all vocal Medulla), Bjork is rocking it up. The military/tribal beats and brass instrumentation is so energetic and transfixing, it almost takes one back to the Human Behaviour era.

Patty Griffin - I Don't Ever Give Up

In two days I am finally going to see the spectacular Patty Griffin in concert. I figured, what better way to celebrate this wonderous occassion than by posting Patty's performance of I Don't Ever Give Up on Jay Leno. Enjoy.

Pip

The third member of the American Doll Posse is the sexy rock chick (and my personal favorite of the bunch) Pip. Here is Tori's description of Pip...

"Pip represents Athena (the Greek Goddess of wisdom), and swaggers her way through the driving "Teenage Hustling" and duets with Santa on the rollicking "Body and Soul". Pip, being the warrior that she is, does confront issues and sometimes it's explosive, but I really love her energy and her casual approach to leather."

Does It Really Matter?

I wasn't going to comment on the whole Virginia Tech School shooting, mainly because it's too horrid to think/write about. I would however like to address the fact that whenever tragedies like this happen, everyone and their mother tries to find someone to throw the blame on, other than the people who did it. They want to psychologise everything, in order to understand why the person did what they did. So they over investigate every little detail and find someone or something in the media to pin it on. For instance, with the Columbine shootings, they blamed Marilyn Manson, because people who listen to his music become homicidal maniacs apparently, The Matrix, because they wore trench coats......(as we all know, fashion kills), and cult movie classic Heathers, because it depicted two high school students going around killing their classmates.

Now they are trying to blame the Virginia shooting on a Japanese movie called "Oldboy". The premise of the movie is that a man is unjustly imprisoned for 15 years, and when he gets out he goes on a rampage against his captor. In one scene he subdues a gang of henchmen with only a hammer. One of the pictures that the shooter sent to the NBC building, was of him holding a hammer in the same pose as the character in this film. So, even though this man didn't do anything to these poor people with a hammer.....this movie is to be blamed because of one picture......

Do we really need a reason for why this man did this horrible thing so badly, that we have to blame the tiniest and most insignificant things for his choice and his behaviour? Isn't it bad enough that he did it? Blame his mental instability if you have to blame something.

Isabel

The second Doll Posse member to be introduced to the masses through tori's official website is the Political, photogenic freelance photographer, Isabel

Isabel is described as follows.

"Isabel, a photographer, is a reflection of Artemis (the Greek goddess of light and protector of the vulnerable) and is the most outwardly political of the bunch. She opens the album with "Yo George", a shout-out to our commander in chief, questioning what horribly dark road we've been led down and closes the CD with the anti-war anthem "Dark Side Of The Sun".

Listen to Isabel's "Yo George" here. For more insight from Isabel, visit her official blog .

Volta

I was in HMV the other day, just walking around and taking in the sights and what should attract my attention but a little canary yellow card informing me that Bjork's new album "Volta" will be released on May 7th. I know....I was as excited as you are now. Since then I have been watching her concert/video DVDs and imagining what the new music will sound like.

From what I've read, the album has been entirely produced by Bjork herself and will feature 10 new tracks featuring input from the likes of Timbaland (ya, I thought it was strange too), Antony Hegarty (Antony and The Johnsons), and Mark Bell (who had a big hand in creating Bjork's album Homogenic).

The first single which was supposed to be released on April 9th (I haven't heard it yet) is called "Earth Intruders". She will be promoting the album with an 18 month world tour that should be announced in the next week or so. Bjork's record label "One Little Indian" has been describing her new tunes as the most commercial sounding work she's ever done. That kind of sentence kinda makes me worry, but Bjork has never let me down before so why would she now? Just look at the album cover.....she looks like a huge gum drop with feet.

I hope I don't have to share the concert hall with people who have only heard one album of material by her. I was kind of pissed off that people started loving her after the whole swan dress thing, but they still didn't really listen to her music. Tour details state that she will be doing a month-on, month-off schedule (I'm assuming because she has a little girl to raise too), and she will be joined on stage by 30 musicians.

Hello Clyde!

In the next few weeks leading up to the arrival of her 9th studio album, Tori Amos will be introducing the Doll Posse one by one and giving backgrounds on each of the girls, discussing their roles in creating the music and revealing the addresses for their official blogs in case you haven't already found them. The first of the five to be introduced, is Clyde (the mousy looking member with the orange eye shadow).

Clyde has been described as follows...

"Clyde, who draws from Persephone (the Greek goddess of spring and rebirth), wears her emotional wounds on her sleeve, but remains idealistic. She is looking at the effects of not being a whole person. She is trying to figure out what she believes in and she is dealing with having been disappointed in her life. Clyde is a little girl lost on the string-laden, gorgeous "Girl Disappearing", and on the heartfelt ballad "Roosterspur Bridge"."

Clyde is also to thank for the gorgeous "Bouncing Off Clouds" which can be heard here . For more information on Clyde, visit her official blog .

Making The Animal Freaks Happy

Christina Ricci has been looking positively gorgeous lately whilst promoting her new film with Samuel L. Jackson "Black Snake Moan". The movie looks like a piece of shit, and I've heard it's getting bad reviews, but who cares when she looks this good. If only she looked this good in the movie. Look Peta, No deer. Happy now?
